Abu Dhabi’s Organic Supermarket Mawasim
My favourite supermarket in Abu Dhabi is Mawasim, because I love supporting small local businesses that believe in the same things I do: affordable organic foods, that are good for the planet and for us. The shop is located in the Mushrif area near the co-op, easily found with the help of google map. The supermarket offers a wide range of organic fruits and vegetables, oils ‘vom Fass’, frozen products, including cakes from Muncherie, a large gluten-free section, teas, cereal, legumes, grains, 100% pure juices, environmental friendly diapers and toxin free beauty products.
Most of my fresh produce comes from Mawasim, which has the largest European ICEA certified organic farm in the UAE with 55 hectares of land called Al Rawafed Organic agriculture. The farm produces an amazing range of over 50 different types of fruits, vegetables and herbs such as bananas, figs, cantaloupes, watermelons, purple potatoes, kale, cauliflower, peppers, basil, aloe vera, mint and radishes. Mawasim’s organic produce is also available in large hypermarkets such as Lulu, Co-op and Carrefour across Abu Dhabi.
Every first weekend of the month the entire store has 25% off everything. On all the other days you can save money by signing up with their loyalty program. If you sign up for a membership card you get a 100 dirham voucher for every 1000 dirhams you spend.
Mawasim have recently launched an online shop, which delivers to Abu Dhabi island within 24 hours. Same day delivery is possible for all orders between 6am and 12pm. Mawasim’s produce is also available on Reem Island in Boutik mall every Saturday from 11am-3pm.
On the 25% off weekend I get all my staples from Mawasim, frozen berries fruits and vegetables, amaranth, millet, quinoa, brown rice, chia seeds and gluten-free pasta. Also look out for 2 for 1 offers on products which are about to expire.
